The ability for organisms to regenerate actually decreases as one moves up the evolutionary ladder. This isn’t because simple forms are more evolved, on the contrary. It is because, in place of regeneration, the human form is designed to direct those Higher forces into the etheric, through the Heart. The human form is less capable of physical regeneration - not because it is less evolved - but because its forces are redirected into its Spiritual evolution. Thus, constructing the Higher Body. Whereas, simple forms of life exist at an evolutionary level that requires their life force to be pulled back into their material form in order to sustain their existence.
The more complex an organism becomes, the more its evolutionary trajectory moves away from simple regeneration and towards the transmutation of life forces into higher, more refined structures. Because of this, we know that stages of evolution can be tracked via the level of development of the nervous system of any being. The nervous system is what extends beyond material continuity, with a more complex nervous system extending like branches or like antenna into Higher worlds.
This does not necessarily mean that simple organisms are disconnected from spiritual existence, but rather, the development of their nervous system is like a map that highlights their particular plane of existence. Their plane is one of instinct, reflex, and shared-consciousness, which is not the same plane of consciousness that humans or more evolved animals operate on. Some simple animals can appear indistinguishable from plants at first glance because they are barely beyond the evolutionary existence of a plant.
Along with the development of the nervous system, we also develop the ability to etherize our blood. Only humans have the ability to consciously etherize—meaning to Spiritualize and transmute etheric forces rather than simply being sustained by them. It is these transmuted spiritual forces that mark the difference between life forces that regenerate, and life forces that resurrect. The “resurrection” of the human form can be understood as the culmination of etherization and the permanent transformation into a Higher body.
Conscious etherization requires self-awareness, self-responsibility, compassion, forgiveness, self-control - the development of the fruits of the Spirit, and Higher moral qualities. This is why resurrection belongs to the human path, while regeneration is the defining characteristic of lower life forms. At risk of digressing, the more that an organism develops its central nervous system, the more it shifts from a material-centric existence to a Spiritual-centric existence.
Unlike plants and lower animals, which often operate via memory and are sustained by their base life forces, human beings were designed to lift these forces into Higher consciousness; transforming them into a Spiritual substance that survives beyond the physical.
